Maryland 4-H Foundation Scholarships

Each year Maryland education scholarships are awarded to current Maryland 4-H members or alumni(ae) who will be enrolled at an accredited college, university, or post high school vocational program in the fall of the year in which they apply.

Current Maryland 4-H Scholarships

  • Edwin D. and Susan C. Fry Memorial Scholarship - $500: The Fry memorial scholarship is an unrestricted scholarship applicant who is pursuing post-secondary education. This scholarship is matched with $500 from the Maryland 4-H Foundation scholarship committee.
  • William E. & Eileen M. Klingelhofer Memorial Scholarship - $500: This scholarship is designated for an entering freshman in a 4 year college/university program. This scholarship is matched with $500 from the Maryland 4-H Foundation scholarship committee.
  • Beatrice Streaker Pfefferkorn Memorial Scholarship - $500: The Streaker Pfefferkorn memorial scholarship is an unrestricted scholarship applicant who is pursuing post-secondary education. This scholarship is matched with $500 from the Maryland 4-H Foundation scholarship committee.
  • Irene G. & Nicolas A. Porter Scholarship - $500: This scholarship is matched with $500 from the Maryland 4-H Foundation scholarship committee.
  • Barbara Pue Streaker Memorial Scholarship - $500: This scholarship is matched with $500 from the Maryland 4-H Foundation scholarship committee. Funding for this scholarship is provided by the family and friends of Mrs. Streaker. Mrs. Streaker was a teacher in the Frederick and Howard County Public Schools. She taught science and physical education. Most notably, she was a proponent of women's sports and coached the Glenelg High School gymnastics teams and the first women’s lacrosse teams at Glenelg High and in Howard County. This endowed scholarship fund was established and is managed and invested by the Maryland 4-H Foundation, Inc.
  • Howard Warfield Clark, Sr. Scholarship - $1,000: Funding was provided by Mrs. Velma Clark in memory of her husband who was a businessman and a farmer in Howard County, Maryland. This endowed scholarship fund was established and is managed and invested by the Maryland 4-H Foundation, Inc.
  • Fine Arts & 4-H Scholarship - $1,000: Individuals who have demonstrated excellence in visual or performing arts (music, art/photography, fashion, drama, or dance) and carried at least (1) one project in an agricultural or veterinary science area and has demonstrated a commitment to being a good citizen and leader.
  • Charles & Judy Iager Maryland 4-H Scholarship - $1,000
  • J. O’Neal & Rosa Moxley Johnston Scholarship - $1,000: Applicant must attend the University of Maryland, College Park.
  • Mid-East Dairy Herd Improvement Association Scholarship - $1,000 minimum of 2 awarded per year: Applicants must participate in the dairy 4-H project and be pursuing a direct or indirect career that supports the dairy industry. Applicants whose families are members of Mid-East DHIC are encouraged to apply.
  • Victor T. Olds Memorial Maryland 4-H Foundation Scholarship - $1,000
  • Brenda Bourne Stair Memorial Scholarship - $1,500: Applicant must have demonstrated record of leadership and citizenship abilities and activities.
  • W. Lawson King Memorial Scholarship - $5,000: Applicant must be enrolled in an agriculture related curriculum.
  • Rippeon Family Scholarship - $2,500
  • Amelia Dashiell Scholarship - $1,000 For Maryland 4-H Equine project members enrolled in a two or hour year equine studies, animal science, pre-veterinarian, biology, or zoology program and must have carried a 4-H horse project for a minimum of two years. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
  • W. Max and Blodwen J. Buckel Scholarship - $1,000 scholarship is awarded a student attending the University of Maryland. Preference is given to 4-H participation in the following counties: Garrett, Montgomery, Prince George’s and Baltimore.
  • Lansdale Pue Scholarship - Unrestricted $1000 scholarship. This endowed scholarship fund was established, managed, and invested by the Maryland 4-H Foundation, Inc.
  • MD 4-H Blackhall Scholarship - $1,500 given to those who have demonstrated excellence in community service.
  • Donald C. Toms - $1000 unrestricted scholarship.
  • J. Lee Majeskie Dairy Scholarship - $1,000 given to those who are in a major related to dairy.
  • Maryland 4-H Foundation - $1000 and $500 given to 4-H participants.
  • Sandy Spring Bank Scholarship - $1000 and $500 given to 4-H participation from Montgomery or Prince George’s county.
  • Paul and Fran Rock Scholarship - Must attend University of Maryland, College Park

Students who are graduating in December of 2017 are not eligible to receive a scholarship.

The Maryland 4-H Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1959 with the purpose of funding national trips, Maryland state 4-H events, Maryland county grants and programs, awards, scholarships, and endowments for Maryland 4-H youth.
