A currently enrolled 4-H member in good standing who has completed at least two (2) years of membership in Maryland 4-H.
A Maryland 4-H Alumni(ae) having been enrolled in Maryland 4-H for a minimum of two (2) years prior to graduating from 4-H.
Each applicant may only receive one (1) scholarship per year for two (2) years before becoming ineligible to apply.
Students completing their post-secondary education in December of 2020 are ineligible to apply.
Candidates submitting a Maryland 4-H Foundation Scholarship Award Application must be planning to enroll in an accredited college, university or post-secondary technical training program in the academic year of 2020-2021.
Scholarship award applications must be submitted online and are to be time stamped by 11:59pm of June 15th. The scholarship award application must be typed and signed by the candidate.
In addition to their application, candidates must provide the following documentation:
- Unofficial transcript from most recent academic institution
- Essay - Impact of 4-H on Career Choice
- Leadership, 4-H Involvement, and Citizenship charts provided in application
- A letter of recommendation from someone involved in your 4-H career (ex. Club Leader, 4-H Educator, etc.)
- Special Criteria for selected Scholarships
Upon receipt of all completed applications, a committee composed of the Maryland 4-H Foundation Board of Directors will review all applications and select qualified recipients and alternates. All committee decisions are final. Winners will be notified via email by November 1.
Applications missing required information will NOT be reviewed.
Academic Scholarship Award winners will receive their scholarship payment in full, made payable to the institution, at the Maryland 4-H Gala, Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the Martin's West in Baltimore, MD. Scholarship winner or family representative must attend (special exceptions allowed). Scholarship winners must provide the Foundation with a signed acceptance form, headshot for publicity, and copy of their donor thank you note prior by November 15th in order to accept their scholarship offer.
